This is similar to the traditional open bypass surgery, but this type does not require a bypass machine. There are also patients who have heart surgery while the heart is still beating, but this is for a few selected patients where the clogged artery does not require the surgeon to open the chest. It is still considered a very serious surgery, but it is less invasive to the body and the recovery process is much quicker.
