The mission of The Joint Commission (TJC) is to continuously improve the safety and quality of care provided to the public through the provision of healthcare accreditation and related services that support performance improvement in healthcare organizations.

TJC conducts periodic unannounced accreditation surveys of University Medical Center of El Paso.

The purpose of these surveys is to evaluate University Medical Center of El Paso’s compliance with nationally established Joint Commission standards. Survey results are used to determine whether, and the conditions under which, accreditation should be awarded to the organization. University Medical Center of El Paso is fully accredited by the Joint Commission and operates under its Gold Seal.
