EL PASO, Texas – University Medical Center of El Paso (UMC) is gearing up for the upcoming flu season and now offering immunizations.

The CDC recommends receiving a flu vaccination in September or October to provide the greatest protection throughout the flu season.

UMC providers and clinics will be offering the flu vaccine.

The UMC Mobile Health Clinic will also be visiting many of El Paso’s rural communities to bring flu vaccines closer to families.

“Everyone can help reduce the risk of contracting the flu and spreading it by staying up-to-date with their immunizations and getting a flu shot. This helps to not only prevent the flu, but the possibility of any complications from the virus,” said Claudia Mercado, UMC Admin. Director of Clinic Operations.

Most health care insurance plans cover the cost of the annual flu shot.
