Did you know that one in eight women will develop breast cancer in their lifetime? 

Breast cancer is the second most common type of cancer affecting women in the United States. 

The best prevention is early detection. University Medical Center of El Paso (UMC) follows the American Cancer Society's recommendations for women to have annual screening mammograms starting at the age of 40 and as early as 30 for patients with high risk, who carry genetic mutations or close family history. 

UMC has a dedicated, compassionate and highly trained staff to help you with all your breast imaging needs. It is our goal to make your experience the best possible.

UMC provides Gold Standard, state-of-the-art 3D mammogram services. In combination with 2D digital imaging, the 3D screening mammogram, also referred to as breast tomosynthesis, is done at the same time. 

Our radiologists interpret results by reviewing a combination of breast tomosynthesis, along with image reconstruction, processing and analysis, to increase clarity and reliability.

After your exam, results are usually delivered within 24-48 hours by your doctor. You will also receive a written summary in the mail.

UMC also offers services from a Breast Patient Nurse Navigator. Our Breast Patient Nurse Navigator assist patients with anything they may need during or after care.

*At present, UMC requires an order from the provider for all imaging exams, which includes screening mammography. Patients can bring the order to their appointment or our team can assist them by calling and obtaining the order. *
