EL PASO, Texas – The El Paso County Hospital District (Hospital District) has been selected to receive the Quality Texas Foundation (QTF) Regional Program Award for Performance Excellence. Officials at the Quality Texas Foundation made the announcement at their headquarters on Friday, Feb. 16.

“Winning this award is a tremendous success, not only for our Hospital District but for El Paso,” said Jacob Cintron, President & CEO of the El Paso County Hospital District.

“The award not only recognizes our operational quality by all of the Hospital District’s organizations, it recognizes our successful partnerships with organizations in our community, especially the City and County of El Paso,” he added. “We are honored to be the first healthcare organization in our region to be recognized with this award. We reached this level of quality because of the team we have, from our senior leaders, directors and all Associates. I know they all strive toward quality outcomes for all patients and families.”

The Hospital District, comprised primarily of University Medical Center of El Paso, El Paso Children’s Hospital and El Paso Health, began the journey toward this state-level recognition six years ago. Since its initial application, the Hospital District underwent multiple, rigorous reviews by the QTF on its journey toward a national-level Baldrige Award.

The Quality Texas Foundation Regional Program encourages the use of the Baldrige Criteria for Performance Excellence and other methods that drive efficiency and effectiveness. There are five levels that organizations must reach on their journey.

They are:

1. Pioneer level
2. Engagement level
3. Commitment level
4. Progress level
5. Award level (This is the HIGHEST Level, won by the Hospital District)

The award will be formally presented to our Hospital District later this year.
